Auntie Anne's Pretzels: Behind the Scenes

2011-2012

Between 2011 and 2012, I worked at Auntie Anne’s, twisting dough, sifting fresh nuggets in cinnamon sugar, and navigating the fast-paced world of pretzel-making behind the counter. As part of a class project while I attended The New England School of Photography, I documented the behind-the-scenes moments on film; capturing the buttery prep stations, the grease-slicked floors, and the unglamorous hustle of food service. My instructor called it "the gross reality of fast food," but it was something more to me. Beneath the mess and monotony were friendships, laughter, and the quiet charm of a job that, for all its imperfections, was still a time in my life that I reflect on fondly.

This project was made using 35mm color film.
