Inked is a documentary series made while I was being tattooed over the last few years. The photographs focus less on the finished tattoos and more on the act itself: the hands, the tools, the pauses, and the attention required. Tattooing is a shared exchange of trust and endurance. These images were made from within that space, where the work unfolds slowly and deliberately. Rather than documenting results, the series stays with the work itself, held in the moments before it is finished or healed.
